If you feel a lot of fear at the thought of sitting in the dental chair, we can help you calm your nerves by offering sedation dentistry that promotes feelings of relaxation when you visit the dentist. At our office, we are pleased to offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation to address and reduce feelings of dental anxiety.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide also goes by the name laughing gas, and it is inhaled into your system through a small mask that is worn over your nose when you are settled comfortably in our dental chair. While we attend to your smile, you can breath in the calming flow of gas that helps your mind feel relaxed and even provides feelings of euphoria. Though you may begin to zone out and lose track of the amount of time passing, you will be awake the whole time. Following the removal of the mask, you will begin to lose the effects of nitrous oxide and can drive yourself home at the end of your appointment.

Oral Sedation
Oral sedation is often provided in the form of a pill that you will take prior to the beginning of your appointment with our dentist and team, helping you enjoy calming emotion by the time of your dental treatment. These effects are very similar to those produced by the medication Valium. Like nitrous oxide, you won’t fall asleep from oral sedation, as it only reduces the effects of your anxiety.
